Dabbling with Tumblr

In an effort to get some more exposure and hopefully drum up some new freelance work, I've decided to test the waters of Tumblr and see how I like it.

To be very clear, I'm not abandoning this blog.  I just want to branch out and see what Tumblr has to offer. I'll still be updating this blog with everything the Tumblr is getting for now. So if you hang around here you won't be missing anything. The two locations may start to get individualized content as I get more comfortable with the new digs. Who can really say.

You can follow me at http://davearmstrongart.tumblr.com/

Again, no need to worry about this blog becoming a ghost town. I don't plan on leaving just yet.

I tried tumblr when I first graduated. I was mostly posting stuff related to illustration that i liked so I don't know how much attention my original work, which I posted less frequently wasn't getting as much attention. I stopped posting their after a bunch of vintage illustration tumblrs I was following just when into posting porn.

Maybe I could get some easy re-blogs now that I'm producing work on a more regular basis, but I kind of prefer the kinds of response I can get from blog comments.

I'd be interested in seeing how this works out for you.

Looks like you've found a way to import your blog posts into your tumblr, that seems like it'd be the way to go! I may just have to figure that out!

Yeah that's one of my concerns with tumblr, so for the time being, I don't know as though Ill be doing a lot of reposting other people's work. I think I'll try to keep it primarily my stuff and see how that goes.

I'm mostly just looking for more of a community. Blogger comments seem to be drying up and fewer and fewer people seem to be updating their art blogs anymore. Very disappointing. So I'm just hoping to find a bit more activity on tumblr. We'll see.

And transferring your blog over is pretty easy. Bloggertotumblr.com is what I used and it makes the whole process pretty painless.

Wow Dave this is fantastic! Thank you so much for the link, I'd have never thought to look for this on my own.

Now if I can just figure out this whole "You may also like" Link Within app, I'll feel like I'm on top of the social media world!

I am pleased that you are one of the few who are still updating their art blogs and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors good sir!
